Rhythmic Immersion Workshop
Objective: To develop and improve rhythmic quality in singing, aimed at all singers.
Rationale: Rhythm is inherent to life, and its development is crucial for good musical performance and a better connection with life in general.
Content: The workshop consists of four modules:
Module 1: Pulse
* Knowledge and recognition of tempos and pulses.
* Music for recognition.
Module 2: On-Off Beat (30 min)
* Introduction and recognition of strong and weak beats.
* Bamboo stick exercises (left, right, and singing).
* Syllabic exercises ta ta ta ku ta ku ku ku ku
* Clapping exercises (front and back of the hand).
Module 3: World Song Exercises (60 min)
* Clapping on 2 and 4 (off beat).
* Musical example and exercise (When The Saints).
* Brief explanation of African rhythms and clefs.
* Musical example and exercise (Prefixo do Verão).
* Musical example and exercise (Mãe Menininha).
* Brief explanation of Latin clefs.
* Musical example and exercise (Buena Vista).
* Brief explanation of off-beat flamenco.
* Musical example and exercise (Malageña).
* Brief explanation of Arabic accents.
* Musical example and exercise (Tarapaana).
Break (10 min)
Module 4: Learning and Singing Songs (60 min)
* Capturing the Downbeat.
* Reggae Clapping.
* Music (Buffalo Soldier).
